As means of enhancing its impact on services rendered to the community, Stenden University of Applied Sciences – Qatar has been stepping up its Corporate Social Responsibility activities during the recent years. With this goal in mind, on Monday 11th November 2019, Stenden Qatar organised a blood donation campaign to encourage everyone at its campus to give blood.
Following on from last year’s success, the event which was jointly organized with the Blood Donation Center of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) was held on the premises of Stenden University of Applied Sciences- Qatar in Bin Omran.
Participants who included students, academic and non-academic staff alike enthusiastically joined the event by donating blood to support this noble cause. The campaign continued for the whole day with full enthusiasm. Every donor who had to be a resident of Qatar was screened through preliminary medical tests before donating the blood. Participants in the blood donation exercise reported feelings of fulfilment about their act and expressed a sense of gratification at the prospect of having potentially made a difference to someone else’s life.
“We are very happy to be a part of this noble and very important initiative, the purpose of which is to save lives. As usual our students and staff were very excited and enthusiastic about participating in this initiative, and we can proudly say that our university community has always been actively engaged in various CRS activities across Qatar. Apart from being a high-quality higher education institution we contribute to the development of the local society in many different ways’ stated Dr. Ivan Ninov, Executive Dean of Stenden University of Applied Sciences- Qatar.
