BBA – Tourism Management
The Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Tourism Management aims at providing entrepreneurial and management expertise to prospective professionals in the tourism and services industry. It is a blend of theory, specialist knowledge and practice on current management issues within local, regional, national and international tourism businesses and services organization.
The different study forms in the programme are designed to impart the necessary skills and confidence in students to either develop their own businesses or become managers in an industry in constant need of qualified managers. This is a particularly niche area for Qatar as it prepares itself to host the Football World Cup in 2022 in addition to its vision to position itself as a tourist destination.
The medium of instruction is English.
Programme and activities
The first year modules not only give students a panoramic view of the tourism industry but also introduce them to current theories, trends, concepts and practices in the tourism industry.
The second and third year offer a range of courses on strategic resource development, finance management and strategic management, policy and planning in tourism, tour operating, operations management, human resource management and tourism marketing.
The fourth year provides intense industrial focus and work experience with a requirement to undertake an internship in the industry and carry out a research project.
